The Middle School Program for Grades 6 through 8 is departmentalized. Specialists in Mathematics, Language Arts, Literature, Science and Social Studies provide instruction in 60 minute blocks three times a week in the mornings. Every afternoon, our middle school students participate in 40 minute classes in Religion, an academic Google Classroom independent assignment and a Special class. Special classes include: Art, Music, Physical Education and Health and Italian.
The goal of the Middle School Program is to prepare students for the academic rigor and study habits needed to succeed in high school. St. Bartholomew Academy students develop critical reading, essay writing, and research skills in their Language Arts, Literature and Social Studies classes.
All mathematics instruction in Grades 6 through 8, reinforce computations, problem solving and algebra concepts. The goal of the mathematics program is to develop strong algebra proficiency by 8th grade so students are well prepared for high school level math classes. An accelerated mathematics program is offered to middle schoolers who qualify.
The Middle School Science Program addresses the Next Generation Science Standards. Lab experiments and STEM activities are part of the weekly instruction. Students participate in science research projects and STEM projects which are entered in the annual STEM Fair.
All St. Bartholomew Academy students receive daily religion lessons, supplemented with classroom liturgies, prayer, First Friday, special assemblies and mission drives. Middle school students partner with primary grade students as prayer buddies. Grade teachers plan events and activities throughout the year where prayer buddies collaborate and work together.
